About
Deciding on your child care provider is one of the most important decisions you will make as a parent. You want a center that is truly an extension of the home. You have found that in Child's Play. Our commitment is to provide the highest quality child care for your family. Communication between you and Child's Play is a key component of our philosophy.
Our Philosophy
We are an extension of your family. During the early childhood years, a child’s growth and development is dependent upon a sense of security. A positive self concept is directly proportional to the quality of care that a child receives. It has been our success story to create a close, warm relationship between the children, parents, teachers, and administration. Child’s Play is a family friendly center. We believe that by building trusting relationships with all of our families, we help to strengthen and support the social and emotional competence of the children that attend Child’s Play.
History
The year was 1987. Our family had just moved to Sheboygan County from Pennsylvania. I was able to find a teaching position, however I was not satisfied with my child care options for my three young sons. I wanted a center that provided us with loving, capable staff that was both professional and nurturing. I needed a clean, safe, and fun environment for my boys like we had in Pennsylvania. My own personal desire for high quality child care grew into the conception of “Child’s Play”. We have now been in business over 30 years providing families with the best child care in Sheboygan County. We are very proud of our long history of excellence. (Deb Long, Administrator)
Teaching Staff
All of the teachers at Child’s Play meet or exceed Wisconsin’s required childcare training. Our teachers continue to keep current on developments in early childhood by fulfilling continuing education hours every year. Our entire staff is certified in CPR. Child’s Play is proud to say that our staff turnover is very low. Many of our teachers have been with us for 10-20 years!
Parent Appreciation
Parents are a key component in successful childcare. We invite every family to participate in classroom and center functions that occur throughout the year. Some examples include special visitors such as folk singer Judy Stock and storyteller Kathy Luck. We also celebrate The Week of the Young Child in April with a "Breakfast To Go" for parents. This is our way to thank you for being actively involved in your child's care.
Conferences
Semi annual conferences will be offered to parents in the fall and spring of each year. Developmental checklists and portfolios demonstrating your Child's progress will be given to parents for review. Sometimes, a conference may be scheduled regarding a pressing issue. Parents or staff may request a conference between home and school.
Confidentiality
Child's Play keeps all children's records confidential. If a child requires special health needs, we will inform the staff that are assigned to care for that child including the center cook.
